As avid rugby fans, being part of this initiative is particularly meaningful for us, but we recognize that this cause transcends sports. Doddie Weir, the Scottish rugby legend, faced his MND diagnosis with unmatched courage and positivity. His determination to make a difference has left a lasting legacy, one that continues to inspire and galvanize efforts to support those living with MND and to search for a cure for this relentless disease.
This week has been a whirlwind of activity and emotion. Working closely with Douglas to get the front box sorted for the Fastrac was a rewarding experience, made even more special by the stories he shared about Doddie—stories that painted a picture of a man whose spirit and character touched so many. Today, meeting everyone involved in this project, it was clear just how beloved Doddie was. The collective effort to raise as much money and awareness as possible is a testament to the profound impact he had on those who knew him, as well as those who admired him from afar.
Doddie established the foundation's strategic plan around five pillars, with one of the most important being 'fun.' It’s easy to see why—fun was central to Doddie’s approach to life, and it’s a reminder of why we’re all coming together for this cause.
With the Calcutta Cup just around the corner tomorrow in Edinburgh—a fixture that was Doddie’s favorite, as we learned today—the timing couldn’t be more poignant. We’re looking forward to seeing how this special Fastrac, with its Ryetec CompactBox in Doddie Tartan, will draw attention to the foundation’s work throughout the summer at various shows and events, including some with Ryetec.
For those inspired to contribute, donations can be made through the following link: Donate Here. We’re also considering a charity raffle for the Ryetec box, and we’d love to hear your thoughts on that!
Finally, a big thank you to everyone who helped make this happen so quickly, and a special shoutout to our apprentice who finally tracked down that elusive tartan paint! Together, we’re keeping Doddie’s spirit alive and making a difference in the fight against MND.
